Sun Country to Offer New Summer Seasonal Service to Minneapolis/St. Paul in Summer 2021

(Fairbanks, AK) - Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) is pleased to announce that Sun Country Airlines will offer weekly seasonal nonstop service to/from Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP). The service will commence on May 29, 2021 and operate through September 11, 2021. The Saturday weekly flight will depart FAI at 9:45pm and arrive at MSP at 5:55am. Passengers will be able to book a flight to/from FAI at ultra-low fares starting at a roundtrip fare of $338.00.

“Air service development has always been a priority at FAI, but even more so now as we work on rebuilding the nonstop connectivity lost due to the global pandemic. One of our top objectives at FAI is to make air travel affordable and accessible both to our residents and visitors. Therefore, we are incredibly proud to announce FAI’s first low-cost air service on Sun Country Airlines. The Fairbanks airport and our tourism and hospitality partners stand ready to welcome visitors for a safe and exceptional stay in Alaska this summer,” said Angie Spear, FAI Airport Manager. “Fairbanks has always marketed itself as a place to embrace the natural world. There is no better time than 2021 to explore the vast expanse of Alaska, the most exotic landscape in the United States.”

“We’re excited to bring our commitment to great customer service and affordability to Fairbanks. We have no doubt that FAI passengers will enjoy our Midwest hospitality, comfortable amenities such as free streaming in-flight entertainment and reclining seats, all at ultra-low fares. We also look forward to connecting our community to the Golden Heart of Alaska, the vibrant city of Fairbanks," said Jude Bricker, CEO Sun Country Airlines.

Fairbanks International Airport boasts itself as the closest and most convenient airport and gateway to the Denali National Park and Preserve where you can see the highest mountain in North America. Sun Country’s’ new summer service is the perfect time for visitors planning to take advantage of Fairbanks’ two seasons – the midnight sun season (April 22 – August 20) when you can experience 24 hours of daylight, and the aurora season (August 21-April 21) with the magical northern light displays.

"We look forward to welcoming Sun Country in the upcoming summer tourism season,” said Deb Hickok, president and CEO of Explore Fairbanks. “The new Sun Country schedule, combined with our existing service, show a demonstrable confidence in the post-pandemic travel opportunities ahead for both visitors and residents.”

Sun Country Airlines will join Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines in serving FAI from the lower 48 during summer 2021.
