Terminal Escalator Replacement Project

(Fairbanks, Alaska) - Fairbanks International Airport is pleased to announce the Terminal Escalator Replacement Project will begin Monday, January 11th.  The project will replace both the Up and Down escalators in the terminal building.  The project will take place in two separate phases with Phase 1 replacing of the Up escalator to the TSA security checkpoint and Phase 2 replacing the Down escalator to the baggage carousel.  Demolition of the Up escalator will begin as early as January 11, 2021, during this time, the escalator will be shut down and out of service until the new escalator is installed. Access to the checkpoint will be available via the existing stairs or elevator.  This phase is anticipated to be completed by the end of March. Phase 2 will begin immediately after the completion of Phase 1.  We thank you for your consideration and patience during this time of construction and improvement.
