October 23[Training] Quarter 4: Topic TBDThursday, October 23, 2025 at 10:00 am to 11:30 am AKST Topic TBD |
Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 10:00 am to 11:00 am AKST Join us for an important presentation on the Alaska's Transportation Workforce Detours: Maximizing Training Opportunities and Outcomes in DOT&PF's Key Industries, commissioned by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (Alaska DOT&PF) in Fall 2023. This study was completed by University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER). This comprehensive research explores Alaska’s current workforce in key construction trades, projects future demand, and identifies strategies to fill jobs with Alaskans, especially women, people of color, and residents from rural communities. The study examines nine priority occupations, including construction laborers, carpenters, cement masons, electrical workers, ironworkers, operating engineers, pile drivers, plumbers & pipefitters, and truck drivers. Using interviews, surveys, and state labor data, the report highlights workforce trends, training opportunities, and recruitment challenges as well as shares actionable recommendations to strengthen Alaska’s skilled labor pipeline. This presentation is an opportunity for partners, unions, training providers, and industry leaders to hear the findings firsthand and discuss how we can work together to expand training access, improve retention, and meet Alaska’s infrastructure needs. |
