Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) proposes a federally funded project that would resurface and improve Glacier Highway from Glacier Highway Access Road to the intersection with Vanderbilt Rd and Glacier Highway. Click Here for project area maps.
The Glacier Highway corridor through Lemon Creek is heavily traveled by industrial and passenger vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists. Bicycles and Pedestrians do not have adequate crossings or travel lanes. Vehicles have difficulty and delay with left turns onto Glacier Highway. The purpose of this project is to improve the flow of vehicular traffic through the project area, including transit, and to make the road more accessible to pedestrians, including those with disabilities.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by DOT&PF pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated April 13, 2023, and executed by FHWA and DOT&PF.
