2006

Federal Aid Earmark provided to ADOT for project under provisions of SAFETEA-LU funding bill.

February 2007

Reconnaissance Engineering Report published by ADOT. Identifies Near Island site as preferred alternative. However, Near Island site is later proven to be not viable for use by MV Kennicott. Study effort resumes to resolve project location and funding.

April 2009

City of Kodiak requests engineering efforts to be focused at existing Pier 1 or City Transient float locations.

March 2011

ADOT completes updated reconnaissance engineering report that examines all feasible locations in Kodiak area including dual and single vessel alternatives.

June 2011

ADOT presents findings of updated study report to City of Kodiak.

July 2011 through December 2012

Environmental document, permitting and engineering design.

January 2013 through June 2013

Final design through Plans, Specification, and Engineer's Estimate bid package.

July 2013
