The purpose of the proposed fencing project is to decrease wildlife hazards, reduce the chances of unauthorized access by vehicles or pedestrians, and to meet 49 CFR Part 1542 transportation security requirements. The project is needed as the airport experiences frequent wildlife incursions on operational surfaces because the airport perimeter is not secure with up to 95 large animal hazing incidents annually.
Both projects will be staged on airport property on previously developed or disturbed areas. Material for both projects is anticipated to be sourced from existing, permitted material sites and would be included in the environmental review of the project:
