The City of Fairbanks, in cooperation with the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region, is proposing to reconstruct 5th Avenue in Downtown Fairbanks between Barnette Street and Noble Street.
The purpose of the project is to improve facilities for motorized and non-motorized users, including the selection of the typical section to best meet user’s needs.
An Online Open House and Survey was held June 19, 2020 through July 19, 2020 for the Fairbanks 5th Avenue Reconstruction project. The Online Open House provided an overview of the existing corridor, past outreach efforts, and presented design concepts, including options for one‐way and two‐way travel. The online survey collected input from the public on the existing conditions of the project area and the preferred improvements, amenities, and direction of travel. 86 people participated in the online survey. Following completion of the environmental document, the design team will develop alternatives for typical section(s). Feel free to reach out to Ivet Hall (ivet.hall@alaska.gov) to let the team know what’s important to you.
