The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is leading a program to construct long-term repairs to damaged infrastructure on State and local roads. Following the magnitude 7.1 earthquake on November 30, 2018, DOT&PF sprang into action to restore essential travel routes within five days of the disaster. These (mostly temporary) repairs were made possible thanks to an amazing response from the contractor community, the public, local governments, State forces, and other agencies. The goal of the long-term repairs is to rebuild the damaged roads to their pre-Earthquake serviceable life.

DOT&PF evaluated more than 265 sites across the region and determined over 150 required permanent repairs.  These sites have been grouped into projects based on geography and type of work to be completed. The permanent repair projects are currently in various stages of design and construction and will take several years to complete.

This website is for the Anchorage District Group B - Nov 2018 EQ PR 0091019/CFHWY00610 project. This project is repairing damage at these locations:

  • Dowling Road
  • Seward Highway at 76th Avenue
  • Seward Highway at Dimond Blvd.
  • 3 sites on the Seward Highway between Anchorage and Girdwood

This program is funded by Federal Highway Administration and state funds. Construction on this project is ongoing and expected to continue through 2023.
