Project map of the PEGER ROAD phase
Project map of the OLD RICHARDSON phase
Project map of the EASY ST. phase
We are working to resurface sections of three roads in the south Fairbanks area: South Peger Road, Easy Street, and the Old Richardson Highway.
The purpose of this project is to provide an improved road surface to drivers accessing south Fairbanks industrial zones, solid waste management and wastewater treatment services. The improvement of this road section will restore usability and postpone the need for major and more expensive projects.
These sections of the south Fairbanks area have deterioration in the road surface that is due to age, our harsh climate, and traffic. The new surface will reduce the road maintenance costs for our Maintenance and Operations crews.
In addition to replacing the road surface, the Alaska Railroad crossing on Peger Road, south of Van Horn, will be replaced. Due to the poor conditions of the current crossing surface, vehicles frequently hit the rail surface, which causes the need for burdensome railroad crossing maintenance. Easy Street will also see additional improvement. There are limited number of ditches and locations to route the water, which causes ponding. Easy Street will be raised and reconditioned to address these drainage issues.
