Meetings

DOT&PF held public meetings in April and October of 2024 to discuss the DAAPS with the community. The information gathered at these meetings has helped guide the study’s progress. The next public meeting is scheduled for August 21, 2025.

August 21, 2025

This meeting will present three scenarios for development of the Denali area aviation system, focused on maintaining the current level of service. The online and in-person meetings will cover the same information, and attendees will be asked to provide feedback on the scenarios.

The online meeting will be held 12pm to 1pm via Zoom and the in-person meeting will be held 5pm to 7pm at the Tri-Valley Community Center. Click here to see the full announcement and meeting details: https://notice.alaska.gov/220330.

October 10, 2024

This meeting was held simultaneously in-person at the Tri-Valley Community Center and online via Teams. There were 7 in-person and 15 online attendees. The meeting was focused on understanding the community’s vision for the Denali area airport system and what resiliency challenges the system might face. Click here to view a summary of the meeting.

After receiving input during the public meeting and discussing the visions and goals with the Stakeholder Advisory Group, the project team developed the following goal for the DAAPS: The Denali Area Airport Planning Study (DAAPS) will identify alternatives to create a regional airport system that enhances safety and access for residents and visitors.

April 18, 2024

This meeting was held simultaneously in-person at the Aurora Denali Lodge and online via Zoom. There were approximately 50 in-person and 20 virtual attendees. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the project and hear initial thoughts from the community. The project team and attendees discussed what is missing at current airports and concerns about expanding existing airports or constructing a new one. Attendees also shared their local knowledge about the region with the project team.
