The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is planning to improve safety, reduce maintenance costs, and address operation logistics on the General Aviation (GA) East Ramp Apron and associated Taxiways C, D, and W of the Fairbanks International Airport (FAI).
This project was planned in the 2019 FAI Eastside Master Plan and it’s anticipated to impact approximately 52 acres of paved surface.Over the next 6 months, the project team will be conducting environmental permitting and design to produce bid documents for summer 2023 construction.
DOT&PF is working on the engineering and environmental permitting required to complete a Categorical Exclusion under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which is required for this project. A public meeting is being planned for August 25, 2022. Completed reports and other relevant information on the project can be found in the documents section.
