Award Categories

CUSTOMER SERVICE
This award recognizes an individual or group of employees who demonstrate a strong mindset of public service and collaboration and take action to develop win-win solutions with co-workers across the state, outside agencies, and/or public partners. State employees from other agencies may be mentioned, but this award is for DOT&PF employee recognition.

LEADERSHIP
This award recognizes an individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities by providing professional development to staff; demonstrating the ability to allow all parties’ ownership of achievements and accomplishments; showing a passion and commitment to DOT&PF’s values, visions, and goals; motivating and inspiring employees under supervision or leadership; and serving as a role model of excellence for others to strive toward.

OneDOT&PF
This award acknowledges an individual or group of employees who consistently foster internal customer service and teamwork across divisional boundaries within the department. This award emphasizes the importance of working together to achieve our shared goals as OneDOT&PF.

OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE
This award recognizes exemplary performance of assigned duties; exceptional accomplishment or contribution to a specific DOT&PF strategic or performance plan, goal, or objective; or outstanding service to clients, public, and/or co-workers.

PROBLEM SOLVER
This award is granted in recognition of an employee who seeks and pursues innovative solutions to problems or processes that will save money, staff resources, materials, equipment, or supplies that contribute directly to the productivity, economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of carrying out DOT&PF’s mission.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
This award is given to an employee who has been with the department for two years or less and has shown exceptional promise and performance in their role, demonstrating strong contributions to their team and their division, such as collaboration, support, integrity, and trust both given and received.

TEAM ACHIEVEMENT
This award is granted to a group of employees who have worked together to accomplish a project or task that is worthy of high-level recognition.

REGION/DIVISION EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
This award is determined by the region/division selection committee and will be selected from all the nominations. The award winner will model and exemplify professionalism and dedication paramount to Keep Alaska Moving.

ALASKA DOT&PF EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
The winner of each region/division Employee of the Year Award will be automatically forwarded as a nominee for consideration for the Department Employee of the Year Award, which is determined by the Commissioner’s selection committee.
