Project Overview

In spring 2021, the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) began design work to repair the Northern Lights Boulevard sidewalks from Minnesota Drive to Seward Highway. The purpose of this project is to improve accessibility and safety for sidewalk users to local businesses, residences, and transit along Northern Lights Boulevard. Planned project design features include:

  • Reconstruct damaged and non-ADA compliant sidewalks and driveways
  • Improve safety by managing driveway access
  • Correct ADA deficiencies at curb ramps and bus stops
  • Provide accessible routes by constructing around or relocating existing utilities
