ADOT&PF Closing McCarthy Road at Mile .4 for Repair Work
Road is Currently One Lane Due to Embankment Slide.

(FAIRBANKS, Alaska) –The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) will be closing the McCarthy Road to all through traffic at mile .4 on Monday, May 19 at 7:00 a.m. Small vehicles will be able to use the road starting Tuesday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. It is estimated that the road will be open to all size vehicles on Wednesday, May 21 at 7:00 a.m.

Due to an embankment slide the road is currently one lane and passable only by small vehicles. The closure is necessary to rebuild the embankment and restore the road to normal width.

ADOT&PF cautions travelers to drive safely. Before traveling, please visit 511.alaska.gov or call 511 for the latest road conditions and construction information.
