Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport
Wins Air Cargo Excellence Award

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) –Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) was presented the 2012 Air Cargo Excellence Award for the airport category of 1,000,000 or more tons by Air Cargo World.  The Air Cargo Excellence Award is the result of quantitative feedback from ANC's cargo customer base of airlines.  It is earned by achieving superior ratings from customers in four key areas:  performance, value, facilities, and operations.

“We are honored to receive this evaluation from our customers and will use it as a gauge in our continued effort to improve ourselves as a high value airport and a world AeroNexus for air cargo,” said John Parrott, Airport Manager at ANC.

Steve Hatter, Deputy Commissioner for the State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities said, "This is a great honor.  It takes a team effort including ground handlers, fuel and maintenance companies, regulatory agencies and airport employees to achieve this recognition.  We would like to thank all of the people and companies involved.  It is great to have our Alaska team recognized internationally."

The Alaska International Airport System (AIAS) - comprised of Ted Stevens Anchorage and Fairbanks International Airports - is home to over 30 international and domestic airlines providing passenger and cargo service throughout Alaska, the United States, Europe, and Asia.  AIAS is an extraordinary economic engine; serving nearly 6 million passengers per year and accounting for 1 in 10 jobs in Anchorage and 1 in 20 jobs in Fairbanks.  The purpose of AIAS is "To Keep Alaska Flying and Thriving."
