Partners in Safety Alaska DOT&PF

Thank you for being a Partner in Safety! Partners in Safety is DOT&PF's initiative to create opportunities for us to hear your concerns and ideas, share data and information and create unique Alaska messaging to combat the behaviors that contribute to serious injury and fatal crashes.

Safe Systems Approach – the department uses the Safety Systems Approach, which is a multilayered approach to reducing traffic related deaths and serious injuries.

Currently, Partners in Safety is tackling outreach and education about some of Alaska's most serious crash patterns.

Pedestrian fatalities:

Alaska DOT&PF is creating original content to address some of the most concerning driver and pedestrian behaviors that are contributing to urban crashes, with a special focus on the Anchorage urban area.

Retroreflective giveaway:

The Partners in Safety team participated in the Tanana Valley State Fair on Thursday, July 31, distributing reflective gear and safety education materials to the public. Members of our traffic and safety team were present to answer questions from the public about ongoing and future projects, changes they would like to see, and any concerns they may have about road safety. We also promoted the Partners in Safety online feedback tool, encouraging community members to share safety concerns and feedback.

DOT&PF distributed retroreflective materials including retroreflective backpacks, vests, lanyards, bicycle posts and educational cards to fair attendees, ranging from school aged children to senior citizens.

We'll be at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer on Aug. 23, 2025!
