MV Aurora
The MV Aurora is named after the Aurora Glacier, located in Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. The glacier was named by prospectors after the Aurora Borealis, aurora means 'the dawn' in Greek. The vessel was designed by Nickum & Spalding Associates of Seattle, Washington and constructed at Peterson Builders, Inc. in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin in 1977. The small size of this vessel enables it to provide service to smaller communities along our route. MV Aurora is 235 feet long and 57 feet wide, with a domestic gross tonnage of 1,280 and a service speed of 14.5 knots.
