Recognizing Veterans

Troy Sherrill

Mr. Sherrill is the Marine Engineering Manager with the Alaska Marine Highway System, where he manages the AMHS fleet.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in high school and then received a congressional appointment to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. The appointment was the source of commisson in the U.S. Navy Reserves, which led to a 30-year reserve career, first as a Merchant Marine Reservist and then a Strategic Sealift Officer from 1992 to 2022, integrating into various commands, operations, programs, and exercises around the world.

Mr. Sherrill retired as a Navy Captain.
