Mr. Potdevin is a former Transportation Planner I in the Juneau Field Office with Statewide Program Development, where he worked in long range planning.

Mr. Potdevin served in the United States Coast Guard in Surface Operations from 1977-2000, and retired Commander (O-5).

Mr. Potdevin's service is as follows:

  • 1977-79 Ensign, Navigator, USCGC SWEETGUM (WLB-309) Mayport, FL 180-ft buoy tender. Oparea - Caribbean to Chesapeake Bay
  • 1979-81 Lieutenant (jg), Commanding Officer, USCGC CAPE JELLISON (WPB-95317) Seward, AK, 95-ft patrol boat. Oparea - Kodiak to Ketchikan. SAR, Maritime Law Enforcement, Marine Environmental Response, Military Readiness, Aids to Navigation
  • 1981-84 Lieutenant, Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) New Orleans. Oparea - Gulf of Mexico
  • 1984-86 Lieutenant, Executive Officer, USCGC SWEETBRIER (WLB-405) Cordova, AK, 180-ft buoy tender. Oparea - Prince William Sound, Gulf of Alaska, Kodiak, Hawaii, California. Aids-to-Navigation, SAR, Maritime Law Enforcement, Marine Environmental Response, Military Readiness.
  • 1986-89 Lieutenant, Atlantic Area Operations, Governors Island, NY. Oparea - Atlantic Ocean, Great Lakes, Gulf of Mexico
  • 1989-92 Lieutenant Commander, Commanding Officer, USCGC FIREBUSH (WLB-393), Kodiak, AK, 180-ft buoy tender, Oparea - Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands, Alaska Peninsula, Cook Inlet, Gulf of Alaska, Southeast Alaska, Pacific Northwest, Hawaii. Aids-to-Navigation, SAR, Maritime Law Enforcement, Marine Environmental Response, Military Readiness.
  • 1992-2000 Commander, Seventeenth Coast Guard District staff, Juneau, AK. Readiness Branch Chief, District Inspector, Quality Branch Chief, Planning Officer, Aids to Navigation Branch Chief (oversaw seven buoy tenders, six LORAN Stations, approximately 450 personnel).
