Mr. Murphy is a Safety Officer with Southcoast Region Highways & Aviation. His duties include OSHA compliance, Workers Comp, and Safety Training.
Mr. Murphy served as a Petty Officer First Class, Submarine Service (SS), Interior Communications Elect (think "Hunt for Red October").
He served six years first in Navy Nuclear Power School, then onboard the USS Henry L. Stimson (SSBN-655), a fleet ballistic missile Submarine. With a crew of 143, he spent two years playing "hide and seek" in the north Atlantic Ocean.
Mr. Murphy then rotated to the USS Lapon (SSN-661), a Fast Attack Submarine with a crew of 107, chasing Soviet and other Navies.
His primary duties as Electical Division lead included maintaining all primary power onboard, watch station throttles, Elect Panel, and Engineering Watch Supervisor.
Over those years, Mr. Murphy experienced the world from beneath the oceans, where few have ventured.
