Wolfgang Junge

Mr. Junge formerly served as Central Region Director for Alaska DOT&PF. He started with DOT&PF in June 1994 serving in both construction and design sections. He was appointed Central Region Director in March 2019.

He served in the United States Army Reserve for over 31 years from June 1987 to Feb 2019. He began his military career as a private first class (PFC) and was eventually promoted to the rank of Colonel. In 2017 he received a Master degree in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College, spending the last few years as an instructor at the college. As an officer, he held a variety of staff positions at all unit levels, as well as command positions at company, battalion and brigade levels, culminating as the deputy commander of the Army Reserves in the Pacific at Ft. Shafter Hawaii.

Mr. Junge served a combat tour in Iraq from Aug 2006 to Aug 2007 at LSA Anaconda/Balad Airbase as the base engineer for over 30,000 military and civilian personnel. As a result of his distinguished service, he was awarded the Bronze Star, along with the Iraqi campaign medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. His other awards include multiple Legion of Merit medals, meritorious service medals, and Army Commendation Medals, to name a few.

Wolfgang and his lovely wife, Elaine and their two daughters, have resided in Anchorage since 1984. His wife is retired and both daughters are currently attending college.
