Mr. Holland was one of two state metrologists working in DOT&PF's Measurement Standards & Commercial Vehicle Compliance (MSCVC) Metrology Laboratory in Anchorage.He worked hard to ensure fair and equitable commerce in Alaska through accurate weights and measures devices.

Mr. Holland joined the United States Coast Guard Reserves in January 1991, and served as a boat crew member at Small Boat Stations New Orleans and Venice between 1991 and 1998.

During 1998-2009, BoatswainMate Holland served in Port Security Unit 308 in Gulfport, Mississippi, and deployed to the Persian Gulf as a tactical coxswain operating 25-ft machine gun boats in 2002 and 2003-2004. In 2007, he served as Chief of the Boats in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. For his distinguished service, he was awarded the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, and the Special Operations Service Ribbon.

Mr. Holland is currently serving as the Reserve Command Senior Chief at US Coast Guard Sector Anchorage, and looks forward to retiring from the Coast Guard in 2020. He and his lovely wife, Leslie, have resided in Anchorage since 2009. Leslie is a federal employee with BLM-AK. Their two daughters, Chloe and Sarah, are both graduates of the University of Alaska at Anchorage.
