The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is proposing to repave the Parks Highway in Fairbanks between Java Lane and Faith Lane (near MP 355 and just west of the intersection with Sheep Creek Extension). Project area
Proposed work on this project includes reconstructing the intersection of Little Shot Road and the Parks Highway. Little Shot Road leads to the transfer site. At this time, we are still working on the construction phasing for this project and determining how it might impact operations at the transfer site. We will work closely with the Fairbanks North Star Borough throughout this process. We anticipate a short-term closure while we grade and pave near the area.
The team is currently working on the preliminary design of this project and plan to put the project out for bid and construction in conjunction with the Parks Highway / Sheep Creek Road Extension Traffic Signal project. Construction is expected to start in 2027.
DOT&PF is also working on a project to improve the shared use path along this section of highway through the FAST ADA Improvements: Shared Use Path Improvements Project , which will be constructed at the same time.
