Parks Hwy MP 163-183 Rehabilitation 61297

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF), in cooperation with the Federal Highways Administration (FHWA), is planning the rehabilitation of twenty miles of the Parks Highway from Milepost 163 to Milepost 183, to be completed in three phases.  The purpose of  these projects is pavement rehabilitation, drainage improvements, and safety improvement through the construction of a passing lane.

As part of this project, ADOT&PF proposes the following:

  • Pavement Rehabilitation: length of project proposed to receive new asphalt treated base (ATB) and hot-mix asphalt (HMA) top course
  • Drainage Improvement: drainage proposed to be improved by reconstruction of failed and/or undersized culverts, including construction of fish passage culverts at  MP 165.2 Pass Creek Tributary, MP 165.5 Pass Creek, and MP 170.9 Granite Creek.  Additionally, drainage to be reestablished along the embankment as needed.
  • Material Site Development: project proposal includes development of Antimony Creek material site, an approximately 70 acre parcel located  at approximately MP 181.5, with gated access from the adjacent ADOT maintenance station.

Project area.

Construction of Phase A (Parks Highway MP163-168.5 and 169.5-174 Rehabilitation) is anticipated to begin in 2019.
