(JUNEAU, Alaska) – The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) and the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) today announced that the Day Boat Alaska Class Ferry Preliminary Design Study Report is now available online at dot.state.ak.us/amhs/alaska_class.

The Preliminary Design Study Report provides the concept design for the Day Boat Alaska Class Ferry including profile and deck drawings. The report discusses in detail vessel characteristics such as length, capacity, layout, vehicle configuration and passenger amenities. The report also outlines estimates for vessel construction and the projected annual operating costs.

ADOTPF will be accepting public comments regarding the Day Boat Alaska Class Ferry Preliminary Design Study Report through August 30, 2013. Comments may be submitted via email to dot.amhs.alaskaclass@alaska.gov. Additionally, the department will host the following public meetings to present the concept design:

• August 20 – Juneau
• August 21 – Skagway
• August 22 – Haines

Exact location and times for the meetings are to be determined and will be announced at least two weeks prior to the meeting dates.
