ADOT&PF Announces Certification Recipients
from American Association of Airport Executives
(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) – The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) announces that these state employees have earned the Certified Member (C.M.) designation from the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE):
“I congratulate all participants as they advance our department’s competency as aviation professionals and I applaud their continued pursuit of excellence in airport management,” said ADOT&PF Deputy Commissioner Steven Hatter.
There are 34 active AAAE C.M.’s in Alaska, of which 32 are working for ADOT&PF. In addition, there are six active Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) members in Alaska, of which five are involved with managing State of Alaska airports. The A.A.E. accreditation is the highest professional certification available through AAAE beyond the C. M. designation.
To earn the C.M. designation, candidates must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge in a wide range of airport related topics including management, Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration regulatory requirements, property management, and environmental regulations. Candidates in the A.A.E. program are required to meet a number of pre-requisites and complete a three phase process. Each phase is designed to test knowledge, comprehension and understanding of aviation management and requires a commitment, time and knowledge to successfully complete the rigorous program.
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities oversees 255 airports, 11 ferries serving 35 communities, 5,619 miles of highway and 720 public facilities throughout the state of Alaska. The mission of the department is to “Keep Alaska Moving through service and infrastructure.”
