DOT&PF Branding Guidelines

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) impacts every Alaskan, every day. We help provide access to goods, services, economic opportunities, each other, and the world.

An important element of presenting DOT&PF’s positive work is our brand. It’s important to maintain a strong, consistent identity so the department can easily and consistently be identified as an accountable, reliable, and respected organization.

Please review the guidelines before accessing and using the DOT&PF logo and its name. Whether you're a partner, contractor, or department employee, please honor these guidelines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I put the logo on clothing or other items?

DOT&PF employees may go through merchandise providers to order approved logo merchandise. See https://web.dot.state.ak.us/logo_merch.shtml (Employee Intranet log-in required) for more information. Contractors or partners may not produce DOT&PF merchandise unless it is first approved by the Commssioner’s Office designee.

Can contractors place their logo next to the DOT&PF logo on a document or publication they created for DOT&PF?

Yes. Before proceeding, see a more detailed answer in the "Use with Other Logos" section of the Branding Guidelines.

Am I required to place the logo on my document or publication?

Yes. The DOT&PF logo should be on any DOT&PF-produced materials. There may be other identities (i.e. 511 logo) that you would like to add, but your materials should always be branded with at least the DOT&PF logo. Materials that should be branded include (but are not limited to) the following:

Advertising
Brochures
Business Cards

Fair / Exhibit Materials

Public Meetings Materials
Marketing Materials

Press Releases
Reports

When is it OK to refer to DOT&PF as the "department," and when should department be capitalized?

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities may be mentioned as "the department" as a preferred second reference. The word "department" should only be capitalized when it precedes the name of the department. Other acceptable second references are: DOT&PF and Alaska DOT&PF.
