Meeting held on September 29, 2022 at 6:00 PM
The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) has updated the Dillingham Airport Master Plan (AMP) and the Dillingham Airport Layout Plan (ALP). A Runway Safety Area (RSA) Practicability Study was also developed.
Dillingham Airport (DLG) is located at the extreme northern end of Nushagak Bay in northern Bristol Bay, at the confluence of the Wood and Nushagak Rivers. It lies two nautical miles west of the City of Dillingham, and 327 miles southwest of Anchorage. DLG is a regional hub for 9 surrounding smaller communities, most of which have airports with unpaved runways less than 3,000 feet long that can only be used in clear weather conditions.
DLG provides essential air services to the City of Dillingham and the greater Bristol Bay region (over 46,700 square miles). At least 18 surrounding communities rely entirely on air transportation for access to medical care and other goods and services in the city. The City of Dillingham has one of only six tribal hospitals in rural Alaska that provides inpatient services.
The updated Dillingham AMP, ALP, RSA Practicability Study will provide a plan for capital improvements, maintenance, and operations at DLG over the next 10-20 years. They will provide recommendations that allow DLG to continue to serve the City of Dillingham and surrounding communities into the future.
