The primary mission of the Statewide Materials Quality Assurance Group is to provide leadership and expertise in the development of specifications, policies, procedures, manuals and training for the use of construction materials on the varied transportation projects throughout the state.
The Statewide Materials Quality Assurance Group leads the Department's Radiation Safety Program, the Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (WAQTC) Program; provides for WAQTC training, oversees the publication of the Alaska Test Methods Manual and manages the State’s Qualified Products List.Other duties of this Group include updating the Master Materials Certification Lists, construction materials submittal review, development of training programs, developing Contractor Quality Control guidelines and general support of Construction operations.
