(FAIRBANKS, Alaska) – The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities’ (ADOT&PF) commitment to communicating with the public was recognized with four national awards at last month’s annual Transportation Communication Skills Contest.
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Subcommittee on Transportation Communication conducts the skills contest each year to recognize exceptional communication work done by state departments of transportation, and is considered the premier competition for communication professionals in the transportation industry.
ADOT&PF’s Northern Region public information team won honorable mention awards for four projects in the region, headquartered in Fairbanks. The awards and categories are as follows:
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities oversees 237 airports, 9 ferries serving 35 communities along 3,500 marine miles, over 5,600 miles of highway and 839 public facilities throughout the state of Alaska. The mission of the department is to “Keep Alaska Moving through service and infrastructure.”
