Several intersections in Fairbanks have an above statewide average intersection crash rate. Planned improvements to reduce the crashes experienced are being funded through the Alaska Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) with an estimated cost under one million dollars. The planned improvements are known countermeasures to reduce the types of crashes occurring at these intersections.

Studies have shown that transverse rumble strips, highway lighting and larger signs have reduced crash experience at similar intersections.
