AMHS Seeks Public Review of Summer 2013 Schedule

(JUNEAU, Alaska) – The proposed Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) schedule for the 2013 summer season has been placed on the AMHS website for public review. These documents can be accessed through a link on the AMHS homepage at FerryAlaska.com or directly through the following address: www.dot.state.ak.us/amhs/share/schedule/considerations.pdf

This is an opportunity for communities to review and comment on the proposed schedule, and to make AMHS aware of significant community events. Written comments will be accepted via email at dot.amhs.comments@alaska.gov and by fax at 907-586-8365 prior to August 28, 2012.

A teleconference to hear comments and consider adjustments is scheduled for Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. for Southeast Alaska schedules and 1:30 p.m. for Southwest and Southcentral Alaska schedules. The meeting will be held in Ketchikan at the Port Engineer’s waterfront office, 3713 Tongass Avenue for participants wishing to attend in person.

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) oversees 254 airports, 11 ferries serving 35 communities, 5,700 miles of highway and 720 public facilities throughout the state of Alaska. The mission of ADOT&PF is to “Get Alaska Moving through service and infrastructure.”
