Whittier Tunnel Closed Due to Rock Fall

(JUNEAU, Alaska) – The Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel, also known as the Whittier Tunnel, is closed until further notice due to a rock fall hazard inside the tunnel. The tunnel was closed at 1 p.m. today.

Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) personnel have removed the fallen rock and are currently evaluating the condition of existing rock inside the tunnel.
