(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) – The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) is advertising for bids to remove structures from three state-owned properties for the Knik Arm Crossing right of way.  The contract will allow for demolishing or relocating the structures and will require that the successful bidder work around and maintain some of the existing vegetation, clean up the area and reseed the lots after the buildings are removed.

The three properties along Erickson Street in Anchorage were purchased and the occupants were relocated over a year ago. A materials investigation on the buildings was conducted and completed last fall.  ADOT&PF is preparing to move forward with this work after the legislature transferred the design and construction management of the project to the department last spring. 

Moving forward with the removal of the structures meets two important objectives.  It increases neighborhood safety as vacant buildings can be an attractive nuisance and it helps make way for construction of the future bridge.
