Recognizing Veterans

Richard Patteson

Mr. Patteson is a former Ferry Services Manager I with the Alaska Marine Highway System, where he oversaw the day-to-day operation of the Petersburg Ferry Terminal.

Mr. Patteson served with the U.S. Marine Corps December 1966 - December 1970 in the rank of Corporal. He proudly served with the Corps Famous Black Knights Marine Fighter/Attack Squadron VMFA-314 at Airbase Chulai, RVN 1968-1969. His duties as MOS 6813 was as Plane Captain (crew chief) on the F4B Phantom II Jet.

The Black Knights were recipients of the 1968 USMC Robert M. Hanson Award - Most Outstanding Marine Fighter Squadron/Chief of Naval Operations Aviation Safety Award Unity Citation under Commander Col. Frank E. Peterson.
