William Sound Transportation Plan
Sound transportation
for the future
Updated 9/19/2008
The Prince William Sound Transportation
Plan was approved on July 15, 2001. The plan
represents a three-year interactive process
involving regional leaders, planners from
the Department's three regional staffs and
the Division of Progam Development (formerly
the Statewide Planning Division), and a multi-disciplined
consulting team led by Parsons Brinckerhoff's
Seattle office. The plan forecasts regionally-significant
transportation system needs for the upcoming
twenty-year period and recommends improvements
to meet those needs. Highlighting the plan
is a recommendation for the purchase and deployment
of high-speed vehicle ferries to Prince William
Sound by the Alaska Marine Highway System.
