The Uniform Act ensures the fair and equitable treatment of persons whose real estate property is acquired or who are displaced as a result of a federal or federally assisted project. Government-wide regulations provide procedural and other requirements (appraisals, payment of fair market value, notice to owners, etc.) in the acquisition of real property and provide for relocation payments and advisory assistance in the relocation of people or businesses.
CFR 23 Part 710 FHWA Regulations
The primary purpose of the requirements in this part is to ensure the prudent use of federal funds under Title 23 of the United States Code in the acquisition, management, and disposal of real property. In addition, other related provisions that apply are found at 49 CFR Part 24.
CFR 49 Part 24 Uniform Act Regulations
The purpose of this part is to promulgate rules to implement the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970, as amended (42 USC 4601 et seq.)
