Richardson Hwy Milepost 206-235 Reconstruction & Bridges
The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (ADOT&PF), in cooperation with the Alaska Division of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), proposes to reconstruct the Richardson Highway from MP 206 to 235 and replace or repair bridges as needed.
This project will reconstruct the Richardson Highway from MP 206 to MP 235 including:
Upgrade the Richardson Highway between MP 206 to MP 235 to reduce maintenance costs and enhance safety.
The Richardson Highway in the project area has existing identified safety and operational deficiencies. Pavement data indicates that the pavement is nearing the end of its useful life. Structurally deficient bridges within the project include: Upper Miller Creek (0581), Lower Miller Creek (0582), Castner Creek (0583), and Bear Creek (0593). Other bridges and stream crossings exhibit scour and sedimentation. Phelan Creek causes erosion and aufeis on the Richardson Highway. Rainbow Ridge causes occasional rock falls. At MP 225, the Richardson Highway experiences occasional mudslides.
The Department is currently working on preliminary design in support of the environmental document.
If you have questions or information you would like to share about the project area and proposed improvements, please let us know by contacting the
Project Manager. Project documents will be posted as they become available.
