North Pole Bike Trail Rehabilitation and Connections

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), in accordance with Section 6004(a)
of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act (SAFETEA-LU), is proposing to widen sections
of road and construct bike path segments to connect pedestrian facilities in North Pole, Alaska.
The proposed project would connect existing and developing pedestrian facilities in downtown North Pole
for better community cohesion, and improve bicycle and pedestrian traffic access to businesses and local neighborhoods.
The project would improve pedestrian facilities in the following locations:
- Add an 8-foot wide bike path on the south side of 5th Avenue in-between Blanket Boulevard and Saint Nicholas Drive.
- Add an 8-foot wide sidewalk with curb and gutter along:
- East side of Davis Boulevard leading to the North Pole Elementary School.
- West side of Snowman Lane in-between 4th and 5th Avenues.
- North side of 3rd Avenue in-between Snowman Lane and Santa Claus Lane.
- East side of Santa Claus Lane in-between 2nd Avenue and Cross Way.
- Construct 4-foot wide shoulders on:
- Park Way in-between Finnel Drive and Santa Claus Lane.
- Finnel Drive in-between Cross Way and Park Way.
