Central Region Rumble Strips, Phase II

PROJECT LOCATIONS & DESCRIPTION
The Central Region Rumble Strips, Phase II project will replace approximately 275 lane miles of continuous (34 foot rumble, 6 foot gap) milled shoulder rumble strips on portions of the Seward, Sterling, Parks and Glenn Highways installed in 2001 but lost to pavement rehabilitation projects and an additional 50 lane-miles of new shoulder rumble strips including Knik/Goose Bay Road and portions of the Glen and Sterling Highways that did not receive them with the 2001 project.
This project will also install approximately 108 miles of continuous centerline installations in both passing and no-passing zones in areas of high severity head on crashes. The Seward Highway and Parks Highway Traffic Safety Corridors and the proposed Sterling Highway and Knik/Goose Bay Road Traffic Safety Corridors will receive continuous centerline rumble strips along with other segments of the Parks, Glenn and Seward Highways with a higher head-on crash experience.
