Environmental Assessment with Finding Of No Significant Impact - Project 59794

The proposed project consists of bringing the existing Kongiganak airport up to current State and FAA standards. The project components include: extending the runway from 1,885 to 3,300 feet, relocating the apron, constructing two (one heated, one unheated) snow removal equipment buildings, installing lighting and navigational aids, and constructing a boardwalk to the apron area.
Kongiganak is located on the bank of the Kongnignanohk River, which flows into Kuskokwim Bay, west of the mouth of the Kuskokwim River. Kongiganak lies 70 miles southwest of Bethel and 451 miles west of Anchorage, at approximately 59.88 deg North Latitude and -163.054 deg West Longitude (Sec. 33, T002S, R079W, Seward Meridian)
