State of Alaska Project No. CFHWY00289
An online survey was available from February to March to gather input from the public. Nearly 5,000 people participated in the online survey. Here’s what we learned:
- Most of the respondents travel the Glenn Highway daily, for work and most are in a single passenger vehicle.
- Travelers get information about traffic conditions on the Glenn Highway from a variety of sources, but the most common are Facebook and the radio.
- Respondents were asked if they are able to change their time of travel based on traffic conditions. Responses indicate that travelers have less flexibility in the morning and more in the evening.
- The online survey also included an interactive map where respondents could place markers to indicate where they had an issue or a suggestion. They could also include a comment with their marker. More than 10,400 markers were placed on the map and more than half added comments. Congestion was the greatest concern of those responding.
The graphs below depict some of the results.
