The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), in cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), proposes to rehabilitate the 33 year old pavement of the Birchwood Airport Runway 1L/19R (4010 ft. x 100 ft.) and re-establish the runway markings.

The Birchwood Airport is located approximately 25 miles north of Anchorage. It serves as a regional airport for Anchorage, Eagle River, Chugiak, Palmer, and Wasilla General Aviation users.
