Projects Location
Projects Location
The project includes two corridors in Bethel: Chief Eddie Hoffman Highway from Hangar Lake Road (MP 0) to the Airport Terminal (MP 4.4) and Ridgecrest Drive from Chief Eddie Hoffman Highway (MP 0) to Akakeek Street (MP 0.62).

Project Overview

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is beginning preventive maintenance projects on Chief Eddie Hoffman Highway (Project No. 02080112/CFHWY00291) and Ridgecrest Drive (Project No. 0209003/CFHWY00313) in Bethel.

The projects goals are to extend the life of the roads, enhance safety, and reduce maintenance until a larger reconstruction project can be funded.

Road conditions have deteriorated since these roadways were last paved, leading to reduced functionality, higher maintenance needs, and lower driver comfort and convenience. These projects will restore these corridors to their original conditions.

The proposed projects will:

  • resurface Chief Eddie Hoffman Highway and Ridgecrest Drive;
  • replace guardrail, guardrail end treatments, and an Automated Traffic Recorder; and
  • recondition and resurface severely damaged portions of the roads.
  • Other improvements include drainage, signing, and striping.

The DOT&PF is sensitive to the needs of local residents and businesses and is committed to working with you to address your concerns on this project. If you have questions or comments, wish to have your name added to the mailing list for project updates, want contact information for project members, or would like to submit comments, please submit comments here.
