Route map for the three day trip from Juneau to Haines and Skagway

Alaska's first major gold strike happened in Juneau at the end of the 19th century, starting the Alaska Gold Rush. Then, about 10 years later an estimated 100,000 people sailed to Haines and Skagway to make the grueling hike to Canada's gold fields. Few found their fortunes, but many discovered a treasure: Alaska. The Klondike Gold Rush populated our state and inspired legendary stories like Jack London's "Call of the Wild." In the summer, ferries sail multiple times per week between Juneau, Haines and Skagway, giving you the flexibility to make the trip fit into your schedule.
